DURGA PUJA ARRIVES

DURGA PUJA ARRIVES

Durga Puja
Good day friends, its Durga Puja time out hrere in India. For all those who do not know what Durga Puja is all about, I have tried to chalk out some information. Durga Puja is an annual Hindu festival celebrated by Bengalis all over the world with great devotion. The fest celebrates the worship of Maa Durga (an incarnation of Goddess Parvati). The dates of Durga Puja are set according to the traditional Hindu calendar.
The event calendar for Durga Puja 2014 is –
30th September - Maha Shashti
1st October – Maha Saptami
2nd October - Maha Ashtami
2nd October – Maha Navami
3rd October – Bijoya Dashami
Durga Puja marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil buffalo demon Mahisasura. Thus, in common sense, it epitomizes victory of good over evil. During these days, Maa Durga visits her native maternal home(i.e. Earth) along with her 4 children namely – Lakshmi, Saraswati, Ganesh and Kartik. Worship of mother nature is done through nine types of plants (Kala Bou - Ganesha’s wife).
Nowadays, Durga Puja in India has modernized in every aspect. In Kolkata and Mumbai especially, you will witness extravagant and mind blowing pandals with awesome decorative lighting. Also, pandals are themed with social messages. During Puja, Kolkata is flied with super joy
in Bengali flavour. Tourism in the city multiplies times. We see people jumping pandals all night. In Mumbai too, Durga Puja is celebrated with great enthusiasm. Bhog including Khichdi, labdaand rasgullas is provided on all 4 days. Various concerts and cultural programmes  are organized every night. All of this ends with immersion of the pratima (idol) and exchange of greetings in Bijoya Dashami.

So, I personally would urge everyone to celebrate the fest well. Greetings from my side.
JOY MAA DURGA
