SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAAN

‘Cleanliness is next to godliness’ .We all have  heard  this proverb since childhood .Clean surroundings is a basic entity of a human being’s life. The main purpose of this article is to raise awareness about cleanliness drive initiated by the government of India.
Prime minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi has initiated the clean India campaign. It was inaugurated on 2nd October 2014 (the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi). The aim of this moment is to make our beloved country dirt-free. PM has invited 9 prominent personalities to join this moment. Here are a few words from Modi's speech.
The Prime Minister says,It is our social responsibility as citizens of India to help fulfil Gandhiji's vision of Clean India, by his 150th birth anniversary in 2019. I am seeing that Gandhi is looking through these specs that whether we have made India clean or not, what we have done and what we have done.”
“ Devote 100 hours every year towards the cause of cleanliness.  Cleaning up the country cannot be the sole responsibility of sweepers. Do citizens have no role in this? We have to change this mindset.Though it is a difficult task, it can be achieved and for that people will have to change their habits.”

General citizens and corporates in the event
“It takes time to change established mindset. It is a difficult task. But we have five years. This is not about Modi... Modi is only one of its 1.2 billion people... This is a people's task. Sanitation should not be seen as a political tool, but should only be connected to patriotism (rashtrabhakti) and commitment to public health. I am not talking politics...this is beyond politics. This is inspired my patriotism not politics. We do not have to do with an eye on politics...I say that with a clean heart... If we paint this again with a brush of politics, we will again do a disservice to mother India.”

“ All the governments in this country have made one or the other effort to do this work. Several political, social and cultural organizations have made efforts in this direction. I greet all those, who have worked.I have requested the corporates to evolve plans under corporate social responsibility to build clean toilets specially for girl students in schools. India should learn from foreign countries, where people are disciplined and do not litter in public places.”

“I have invited nine people and asked them to come to public places and work towards a Clean India. I ask them to invite 9 more people too. I have invited Mridula Sinha ji, Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Ambani, Ramdev, Shashi Tharoor, Kamal Haasan, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan, team of Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma.”

“If people of India can reach Mars with minimal expenditure, why can they not keep their streets and colonies clean. If we make it a public movement, we can make our country being counted as one among the cleanest nations. According to the World Health Organization, an average of Rs. 6500 per person was lost in India due to lack of cleanliness and hygiene. Swachh Bharat would make a significant impact on public health and in safeguarding income of the poor, ultimately contributing to the national economy.”

Sachin Tendulkar supporting the movement
It is cheerful to have daily soasp supporting Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Recently ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ had broadcasted 4 episodes supporting it . It is also the buzzing word on social networking sites like Google+, Facebook And Twitter.
This movement has a lot of potential and purpose to go on for a clean  India. Its success will lead to a disease free country.  It shall start from your own home, society and then city and then nation. Hence pull up your socks and urge everyone in your vicinity to support it in every possible way .
